Fergus Job Card
Fergus - Job Card
The center for job information in Fergus.

The Job Card is the center of every job in Fergus. All the information for a job that a tradesperson is working on can be found here.
Before the Fergus Design Team was established, 5 years of design debt had built up from features being added without thought of how additions would effect the user experience of the rest of the software. There was a lot of clean up to do.

This is the Job Card before the design team was established. There was a large amount of poor design choices made with no proper design process.
An overwhelming amount of information with no hierarchy, the lack of consistent styling; multiple styles for call-to-action buttons and far too many text styles made the interface overly complex and clunky and the unnecessary split in the interface with the main tools placed below the fold of the screen.
We determined what goals we wanted users to achieve with the Job Card while still serving the purpose of being a tradespersons hub of information for whatever job they were working on.
The first thing we did was reorganise vital job info into a header format. Previously, users would have to scroll up to the top of the page or even redirect entirely just to review customer and address info. With the new header format, users can now easily access customer, address and contact info without moving away from the page they are working on.
The other major improvement made was moving all actions and tools into our new job card sidebar. This also got rid of the needless split in the interface and helps form one of our main interface patterns in the software.
